Day One – Brisbane to Lamington National Park O’Reilly’s Rainforest Retreat
Travel to Australia’s largest subtropical rainforest – World Heritage Lamington national Park. Your
personalised transfer will meet your arrival flight or pick up from your hotel at the time of your
choice. Take time to explore the magnificent rainforest and its many attractions. Discover the
famous “Tree Top Walk” just a short walk from the Guesthouse. Enjoy a glass of Sparkling Wine
on the balcony of your room, or the social Happy Hour in the Rainforest Bar, while admiring the
spectacular sun set over the Great Dividing Range to the west.
Day Two (Breakfast) – O’Reilly’s Rainforest Retreat
Start the day with the O’Reilly’s famous bird walk to meet the hundreds of birds that visit each
morning to feed around the Retreat. After breakfast visit our Discovery Centre and allow our
guides to help you decide on your activities for the day, choose from a selection of guided 4WD
bus excursions, interpretive rainforest walks or adventure activities. In the evening join a
nocturnal spotlighting or Glow Worm walk, watch an audiovisual presentation or just relax in the
library and learn about the fascinating history of the O’Reilly family and Lamington National Park.
Day Three (Breakfast) – O’Reilly’s to Kingfisher Bay Resort Fraser Island
Enjoy an early morning breakfast before checking out and departing for Kingfisher Bay Resort on
Fraser Island. Your personalised transfer will depart O’Reilly’s at 8.00am for Roma Street Station
in time to connect with the Queensland Rail “Tilt Train”, departing at 11.00am. The train arrives in
Maryborough at 2.30pm and is met by Hervey Bay Limousines with personalised signage, where
you are transferred to River Heads for your afternoon ferry service to Kingfisher Bay Resort.
After a 50-minute cruise across the Great Sandy Strait, you will be welcomed to Australia’s
leading ecotourism resort. Explore the resort, swim in the pools, go bush walking or try your luck
with fishing. Nocturnal activities include indulging in great Australian food and wine, relaxing in
the Maheno Lounge or kicking up your heels at the Wilderness Bar.
Day Four (Breakfast, Lunch) – Kingfisher Bay Resort Fraser Island
Before your buffet breakfast join a ranger to seek out some of the birds of Fraser. At 8.15am
depart on the “Beauty Spots” full day 4WD ranger-guided eco-tour. Discover amazing pockets of
rainforest growing in sand, crystal-clear fresh-water lakes, shipwrecks and coloured sands. You’ll
drive along one of the world’s most spectacular highways – 75 Mile Beach and learn the
fascinating history of Fraser Island. Lunch and refreshments are included. On return to the
resort late afternoon, stroll along the beach, watch the sun set over the sea and sip champagne
or marvel at the stars of the southern sky.
Day Five (Breakfast) – Kingfisher Bay Resort to Brisbane
After breakfast the ferry departs at 7.50am for River Heads to connect with the Queensland Rail
coach transfer (9.50am) back to Maryborough in time for the 11.08am “Tilt Train” back to
Brisbane. The tilt train journey will arrive in Brisbane at 2.40pm.
